  • Thought you might be interested in this passage from ‘In Search of the Miraculous’ by Ouspensky, based on the teaching of G.I.Gurdjieff.
‘Permanent truth and permanent falsehood can exist only for a permanent man. If a man himself continually changes, then for him truth and falsehood will also continually change. And if people are all in different states at every given moment, their conceptions of truth must be as varied as their conceptions of good. A man never notices how he begins to regard as true what yesterday he considered as false and vice versa. He does not notice these transitions just as he does not notice the transitions of his own I’s, one into another.

There is more which is worth reading if you are serious.
    Good luck, Angela

  • Hello

I am Mahendra from India. Your experiment is very interesting & would reveal you a lot about human nature & most important- self.
I recommend you take up a 10 day course of ‘Vipassana Meditation’ as taught by Dr S. N. Goenka. This would help understand the true nature of self. The basis for this meditation is ‘to observe truth 24 hrs’.
More details are available on http://www.dhamma.org
Probably this is one more ‘experiment’ added you your list :-)

Wish you good luck for your journey.

  • Hi Cathal. I just wanted to say that I think your idea is a great one and I look forward to reading your book. However it seems the scepticism of some people may be a bit of a hindrance to you.

It seems that not many believe that you will actually not lie for a year.

For example if your wife said does my bum look big in this would you say yes if it did!!! If you do your a braver fellow than I!

Have you written anything before this book? I am in the process of writing an educational book myself at the moment.

If you do not have an agent maybe it would be an idea to get one? I am pretty sure that certain TV shows would lap this kind of thing up.

Anyway much luck with your book and the whole project.

    Regards

    Daniel

  • Hi.

Just curious. 11 months down. Any lies yet? Any Truths – I gather that no lie doesn’t garanty anything. Thanks for sharing as they say.

  • Hi!

greetings and good luck from alsace, france, from where I’m quite interested in looking forward how you’ll explain your wife that you just smell the wind when you follow a splendid girl walking in the street with your eyes… that’s for the joke, maybe you’ve been doing your daily wandering in Madrid like kant did in his town his life long, buy a dog! keep the faith!
